With the help of Governor Perry’s Texas Enterprise Fund, a new skyscraper is coming to downtown Houston.

Perry announced that the new Chevron high rise will bring more than 1,700 new jobs to the city.  The project is getting a 12-million dollar boost from the Texas Enterprise Fund, which is designed to spark business development in the state.

In a statement, Perry says, "The Texas model is a blueprint for job creation, and the investment Chevron is making in Houston with more than 1,700 high-paying jobs opens the door to significant opportunities for Texans and their families."

The facility will house professional, technical and administrative offices to support global operations.

Chevron is headquartered in California, but Houston Mayor Annise Parker also praised the oil giant’s commitment to the city.
