A new smart collar is on the market that aims to help you keep better tabs on your pet's health.

Pet-Pace has developed a smart collar that monitors things like, temperature, respiration, and activity.  The collar then connects to your smartphone or tablet to allow you access to all the data.

KTRH pet expert Dr. Brian Beale with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists says the collar is useful but, "It really has not been looked at scientifically to show how often it may have an error."

The Pet-Pace smart collar doesn't come cheap either.  Pet lovers will have to shell out $150 for the collar and an additional $15 a month.

Dr. Beale says the collar doesn't replace a vet, "I look at this as more of a fun device to see what your pet is doing.  But not necessarily to help you monitor their health."
