When the new garage is finished at Houston's Hobby Airport late next year, many of the frustrations of looking for a parking space will be gone.
The new garage will add room for three thousand more cars. Walker Parking Consultants Senior Vice President Casey Wagner says you will be able to check out the parking situation before you leave your home.
“After you take your ticket you will know which floor has availability,” Wagner says. “And, as you pull into that floor the overhead sensors will have a red light for an occupied space and a green light for an open space.”
The consultants say they are designing the garage of the future as a part of more than 200 million dollars in improvements to the south Houston airport.
The opening of a new lot means there will actually be a net gain of parking spots while the work on the new garage is completed.
“(We have) Two hundred more public parking spaces in Eco Park 2 than what we had before we started the construction,” says Liliana Rambo, Houston Airport System parking director. “The new parking facility will have almost three thousand parking spaces.”
