Here's How to Get in to Pay Respects to Mrs. Bush

Former first lady Barbara Bush will lie in repose Friday from noon to midnight at St. Martin's Church, where the Bushes have been members for 54 years.

Anyone can pay their respects, but you have to go through security first at nearby Second Baptist Church at 6400 Woodway.

From there, Metro buses will shuttle people to and from Saint Martin’s at no charge.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo says oversized purses and bags are not allowed inside the church today --  and you’re asked not to use a camera or cell phone.

The parking lot at Second Baptist opens at 10 a.m. -- people should enter the lot from Voss Road -- and the shuttles will start running at 11:30 a.m.

After midnight, the memorial and all road access will close.

Saturday's funeral is invitation-only. Among those attending are first lady Melania Trump and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

Newsradio 740 KTRH will have live coverage of the funeral Saturday starting at 11 a.m.

Acevedo tells Newsradio 740 KTRH that people who want to watch the post-funeral caravan should do it anywhere but the roadside. He says to park safely, walk up to an overpass that has sidewalks, and watch from there.
