Perseid Meteor Shower Season Begins

The most popular meteor shower of the year is making its debut.  The Perseid meteor shower begins today.  Scientists say Earth will pass through the path of Comet Swift-Tuttle from July 17th to August 24th, with the shower's peak set to happen on August 12th.  But, viewers can still catch meteor action before or after the peak time.  The meteor shower can be seen best from the Northern Hemisphere and down to the mid-southern latitudes.  Dust and debris from Comet Swift-Tuttle is what causes the Perseid meteor shower.
