President George H.W. Bush Laid to Rest

Under overcast skies, the flag-draped casket carrying America's 41st president was taken to his final resting place at his presidential library in College Station.   Bush was honored by a flyover of several Navy jets in tribute to his service as a naval aviator in World War Two.

Earlier in the day, thousands of mourners held signs and cheered as the Union Pacific Engine 4141 carried Bush's casket about 70 miles from Old Town Spring through Hufsmith, Pinehurst, Magnolia, Todd Mission and Navasota, before arriving in College Station.

The casket was inside a special car a fitted with window panels to allow people lining the tracks views of Bush's coffin.

This was the eighth funeral train in U.S. history.  Abraham Lincoln's funeral train was the first in 1865.

Former Secretary of State James Baker and Bush's grandson, George P. Bush, delivered eulogies during a funeral service at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston.
