Hispanic Unemployment Numbers

The December jobs report showing 312,000 jobs added was a “boom,” a “surge,” and a huge “surprise.” While all three networks noticed the big economic story on Jan. 4 most didn’t bother to spend much time telling people about it.

Meanwhile, Univision, Telemundo and CNN en Español all under-reported that Hispanic unemployment hit its third record low achieved under the Trump administration, falling to 4.4% in December 2018.

The final report was 136,000 more jobs than those expectations, not including the additional 58,000 jobs added from revisions to previous months.

The stone cold silence about the milestone is similar to what happened when the same networks refused to report the first time that Hispanic unemployment reached a then 45-year, historic record low of 4.6% under the Trump administration, back in July of 2018.
