Everyone was impacted in one way or another by the attacks on New York and Washington in 2001. The 9/11 attacks had profoundly different attacks on two Houstonians.
One place Houstonians mark the day is to visit Lauren's Garden, which is named after Larry Catuzzi's daughter, who was on United 93. Catuzzi tells KTRH he's glad.
"It's become a way for Houstonians to never forget, which has become our motto," Catuzzi stated.
And then there was Wesley Hunt, who is running for Congress against Lizzie Fletcher, and was a sophomore at West Point on 9/11.
"We had no idea what the future was going to look like, but that changed in the blink of an eye," Hunt explained. "We knew we were going to war."
Hunt tells KTRH he lost 14 classmates to the War on Terror.
"I wear a bracelet every day for my fiend David Frazier, who was a good friend of mine and was killed in Iraq. I am reminded every day of his sacrifice," Hunt told KTRH News.
Catuzzi is reminded every day as well.
"I talk to Lauren every day. Her mom does as well. All families of 9/11 do the same," Catuzzi said.
