Astros, Cole, face Yankees in New York this afternoon as ALCS continues

Gerrit Cole of the Houston Astros hasn't lost since May 22nd. Astros fans hope that trend continues this afternoon in New York.

The Astros and Cole face the Yankees in Game Three of the American League Championship Series. The best-of-seven is tied up at one game apiece after the Astros got a dramatic walk-off home run in Game Two at Minute Maid Park on Sunday Night. It's a home run that manager A.J. Hinch hopes gets Correa on a roll following his back troubles and slump in the ALDS against the Rays.

"He's really good. He needs to be himself. When he gets the chance to do some damage he can be great," Hinch said.

Cole will face the Yankees for only the second time in 2019. He knows their lineup is as dangerous as the one Houston has supporting him.

"They are as advertised. They are extremely talented. They are extremely tough," Cole said.

But Cole has also been on a roll that we haven't seen in a long time. He is 18-0 since that last loss. Cole says there's no big secret to his success.

"We just continue to figure out what we think will bring us success," Cole stated.

The scene has obviously shifted, as the Astros will play the next three games in New York. Hinch knows it's a rough crowd if you are the visiting team.

"It's incredible to play here. It's a blast. This is a big stage. It's rowdy from the first pitch on," Hinch explained.

Coverage on Sports Talk 790 starts with the On Deck show at 1 o'clock. First pitch is scheduled for shortly after 3.

The Astros are hosting a FREE watch party for fans at Minute Maid Park. Click HERE for your free voucher to get into the stadium (you will have to pay to park).
