Funeral arrangements set for Sgt. Brewster

UPDATE: Visitation for Sgt. Brewster will take place Wednesday, and the service will take place Thursday at sites that have not yet been announced.

According to Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, Houston Police Sergeant Chris Brewster and his team answered a call from a female who was being victimized by her boyfriend. This happened Saturday night (12-7-2019) around 6:00 in East Houston. Sgt. Brewster approached the armed assailant, 25 year old Arturo Solis, who then shot Sgt. Brewster. Brewster's fellow officers performed CPR on him until the EMTs arrive. Solis escaped on foot until he was apprehended blocks away. He is in custody.

Brewster was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where a short time later he was pronounced deceased. Sgt. Brewster leaves behind his wife, parents and sisters. He was a 9 year veteran of the Houston Police Department.
