Senate Passes Covid Bill: 49-50

Today (3-6-2021) the 1.9 Trillion Dollar relief bill was passed by the senate. Final vote was 50 to 49. Republican Senator from Alaska Dan Sullivan was absent for the vote due to a family funeral he attended. They are on track for final passage next week. Bleary eyed senators worked through the night into this morning. There were many amendments up for vote...nearly all for Republicans ... and rejected.

Now, the House has to take up the bill again before it is signed into law. "Voters gave Senate Democrats the slimmest majority possible. Voters picked a president who promised unity and bi-partisanship. Democrats' response is to ram through what they call, "The most progressive domestic legislation in a generation on a razor thin majority in both houses."

The package is nearly one-tenth the size of the entire U.S. economy. The Vote to Reinsert $15 Minimum Wage in Stimulus Bill Failed on Friday (3-5-2021).
