Joe Biden tells Americans to mask up due to rising COVID cases, but the same order does not apply to illegal aliens crossing the southern border.
La Joya Police this week uncovered an entire motel filled with COVID-positive migrants, paid for by Catholic Charities, without any local officials being notified.
“We did not know this. No one told the city of La Joya. No one told the police department that these people were here. And no one told us that these people were possibly ill,” Sargent Manuel Casas said Tuesday.
Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez released a statement calling on federal agents and Gov. Greg Abbott to better protect the community from COVID-19.
“We now face a potential crisis because of the federal policy of releasing infected migrants into our community, coupled with the state policy that prohibits us from implementing essential safety measures,” Cortez said in a release. “This is unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, two more whistleblowers have come forward alleging children were mistreated at a Department Health and Human Services migrant shelter in Fort Bliss. They also say HHS told them to downplay hundreds of COVID infections among children held at the facility.
The media continues to criticize Texas for rising COVID cases, but without questioning whether it's coming from the border.
“We're beyond frustrated,” says Adrienne Pena-Garza, chair of the Hidalgo County Republican Party. “But what I think is working is everyday people are speaking up. They're tagging them (politicians) on social media. They're demanding answers.”
“The greatest concern I've been hearing in the past 24 hours is they're being sent on planes and going all across the country and many of them are sick.”
