The original military derived (AM General) H1 GMC Hummer was an expensive beast of a collectible civilian vehicle. The H2 and H3 were embarrassing, cheap plastic, gaudy, awful over-compensators. The 2022 Hummer EV with it's 1000hp, "11,500" ft/lbs of torque (we'll see about that claim), sub 4 second 0-60 and hefty near-as-makes-no-difference $113,000 price tag aims to pull GM into the electric future in earnest.
But will it though? If GM was serious about EV, why would they choose a 6 figure, well-heeled only, debut flagship and not a sub-$60,000 Sierra pickup truck that most of the working class is already familiar with? It doesn't seem to make any sense.
In the podcast above, you can hear me argue with myself about all things GM Hummer EV. The butthurt starts about 21:30 minutes in.
