Disney Now has control over Hulu!

Well kids the streaming wars have taken a turn as Comcast has finally decided to sell Hulu to Disney for a whopping $5.8 billion dollars and up to $9.2 billion in 2024. This sale is effective immediately. It will be interesting to see how this effects the service and what new content will be shown on Hulu which currently has about 28 million subscribers. Comcast has agreed to license Comcast-owned NBCUniversal shows and content to Hulu, however NBCUniversal is expected to launch its own streaming service in 2020 so a few of those shows may be pulled from the service.

This deal which has been in the works awhile guarantees Comcast $5.8 billion for its 33% stake in Hulu if it sells before January 2024. In January 2024 Disney can exercise it's option to buy Comcasts stake in Hulu at $9.2 Billion.

This move is sure to make Netflix worry a bit as Disney as already laid out their plans for their own streaming service that will launch later this year. As the streaming wars continue it will be interesting to see what the viewers get from this
