It’s a big anniversary for the world, but pardon the Houstonians who take special pride in the Moon Landing 50 years ago.
It was personal….hearing your city’s name spoken from the Moon. Watching your fellow residents…astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin accomplish what no human had done before.
July 20, 1969 is the date we celebrate and especially on this upcoming 50th anniversary. You can get an early start with Houston Museum of Natural Science bringing the Moon to Houston….in a huge sculpture.Big deal?Yes, because, lit from within, it’s 23 feet in diameter, composed of 120dpi detailed NASA imagery and mapping, showing lunar features, Apollo 11’s landing spot and even the “dark” side of the moon’s surface.
The Museum calls it a fusion of imagery, moonlight, and surround sound composition.
