History has painted broad pictures of America that recent decades of activists have sought to paint over or repaint.
But that's hard to do on a case by case basis; the individuals who rise to the occasion of crisis, who take risks for the greater good or simply go on with the business of confronting the crisis with an attitude of standing their ground.
Every day as we interact on Houston’s Morning News with a sizable Facebook Live audience, I’m struck by the individuals who chime in, and they do weigh in from all corners of the world. But lately I’ve enjoyed hearing from Chris. He’s a trucker from northwest Houston. Last week he was in Bakersfield, California picking up a load of ice cream to haul to Baltimore, MD. He made it! This week he’s en route to Pennsylvania to pick up powdered chocolate, hauling it to Iowa to another ice cream plant there.
Whatever the haul, truckers like Chris are proving the backbone of America.
