Texas Senator Ted Cruz is weighing a possible 2024 presidential run.
Cruz will soon embark on a month-long midterm campaign tour, traveling to 17 states to support GOP candidates. Republican strategists like Jessica Colon say Cruz will likely lay the groundwork for his own campaign while in critical states like Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada.
Many are asking whether Cruz would be serious contender. He lost in the 2016 primary, and he's still not as popular as former President Donald Trump or Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
“You can’t play if you don’t have your game piece on the board,” Colon explained. “You never know how a presidential primary is going to play out. You never know who is going to get under the Klieg lights and bomb.”
Cruz has said Trump's 2024 decision is going to be a major factor in shaping a future Republican primary.
