Casting for Marvel's upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion is heating up. The show was announced back in December as a showcase for Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. The pair first worked together in 2019's Captain Marvel. Other recent cast additions have included Olivia Colman (The Crown) and Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami). Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is signing on to play an undisclosed role.
The show is said to be a paranoid thriller, focusing on Nick Fury dealing with shape-shifting aliens who have infiltrated human society and spent years operating in secret. The 2008 crossover event comic book series of the same name revealed that many Marvel heroes had been replaced by Skrull shape-shifters years earlier.
Marvel's current Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is wrapping up this Friday and the streaming platform will launch Loki on June 11. No official release date has been announced for Secret Invasion, but the series should hit Disney+ sometime in 2022.
