Jessica Chastain is a Hollywood actress. You might not know her by name but you'd probably recognize her face.
Yesterday Jessica tweeted...
"Welcome to America, where you'll wait 6 months for an X-ray but hey, you can buy an AR-15 in 5 minutes flat. - @MissSloaneMovie"
Obviously she's trying to make a point about the Las Vegas tragedy. But her point is confused & inaccurate - it takes 5 days to pass a gun background check but you can walk into any urgent care clinic & get an x-ray right now. So the point she's making is... WRONG. [Note - I realize in some states it doesn't take that long, but she's in California, not Texas].
But it's the last part of Jessica's confused tweet that's so... Confusing. She tagged another Twitter account in her message - @MissSloaneMovie.
Miss Sloane Movie? What's that? Last year Jessica starred in a movie with that exact specific title. Miss Sloane is a movie about a "Brave woman" who "fights the gun lobby", according to a plot synopsis about the film.
Ooooh... I think I'm starting to understand. She exploited a national tragedy to promote her movie? But this isn't even a new movie - it came out last year. Say, how did it do in the box office, anyway? That's actually the best part - this movie was a TOTAL FLOP. Here are details from the film's finances listed online:
- Budget: $13,000,000 (estimated)
- Opening Weekend: $59,797 (USA) (25 November 2016)
- Gross: $3,439,171 (USA) (23 December 2016)
HA!
