A Republican and Democrat running for the Vermont House of Representatives did something pretty surprising after a recent debate. They performed a duet.
The Republican is a guy named Zac Mayo, and he plays guitar. The Democrat is Lucy Rogers, and she plays the cello.
So after their debate at the local library, they moved some tables, got their instruments, and sang the Eddie Vedder song "Society" from the movie "Into the Wild".
They didn't tell anyone, and the reaction from the crowd was pretty great.
The candidates disagree on the issues, and locals say the two of them both want to win in the worst way . . . but it sounds like their duet won people over to a more positive style of political debate.
