I'm beginning to think ManBearPig isn't real.
After Trump withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord, Leftist alarmists predicted doom and gloom for our planet.
Al Gore in particular thought the move would be a death wish to our planet's climate and atmosphere.
In June 2017 Al Gore said Trump's move to pull us out of the Paris Climate Accord was a threat to all of humanity: "I think it was reckless, I think it was indefensible. It undermines America's standing in the world. It threatens the ability of humanity to solve the climate crisis in time."
It turns out Al Gore was wrong (again).
A new report from the EPA shows an "overall decreases across sectors and that total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions reported decreased by 2.7 percent from 2016 to 2017."
EPA acting administrator Andrew Wheeler said:
“Thanks to President Trump’s regulatory reform agenda, the economy is booming, energy production is surging, and we are reducing greenhouse gas emissions from major industrial sources. These achievements flow largely from technological breakthroughs in the private sector, not the heavy hand of government. The Trump Administration has proven that federal regulations are not necessary to drive CO2 reductions. While many around the world are talking about reducing greenhouse gases, the U.S. continues to deliver, and today’s report is further evidence of our action-oriented approach.”
And that's not all! The report also says emissions from larger US power plants decreased as much as 4.5% since the previous year - 2016.
A report released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration back in September says carbon emissions from major energy sources dropped to nearly 1% overall, which is the lowest level for U.S. emissions since '93.
According a June 2018 BP Statistical Review of Global Energy, the US leads the planet last year in reducing carbon emissions across the entire board.
Trump pulling us out of the Paris Climate Accords in 2017 was irrelevant.
According to American Enterprise Institute (AEI), U.S. carbon emissions decreased by more than 42 million tons last year. That puts us way ahead of the second most environmentally-friendly country: Ukraine (yes, Ukraine).
Here's the funniest thing about this news: Canada, Spain, the European Union, and China (all countries who signed the Paris Climate Accord) saw huge increases in carbon dioxide emissions. In fact, China actually released 120 million more tons of carbon dioxide than they did the previous year and the EU released 40 million more tons of carbon dioxide.
Wow! What a buncha hypocrites!
To add to the hysteria, Yale has published another study that shows that “Human Caused Emissions” are changing the boundaries of climate zones.
One of the problems these environmental alchemists are claiming is that the tropic zones are increasing about 30 miles per decade, making some areas drier and other areas wetter. They claim the eastern Mediterranean suffered its worst drought in 900 years in 2016 because of human caused emissions.
Except, in the very same paragraph, these alchemists admit that the last time the he tropics expanded northward (from 1568 to 1634, due to natural climate fluctuations), droughts helped to trigger the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.
Due to natural climate fluctuations. Hmmm. Why don’t these wizards of smart think our climate change is due to natural climate fluctuations this time?
Another hysterical claim is that the Sahara Desert has grown 10% since 1902. Which is quite interesting when another study suggests that human intervention caused the slowing of desert formation by 500 years. And when did that human intervention happen? Oh, about 5,500 years ago.
In fact, around 8,000 years ago, the Sahara was a humid tropical zone. The climate began to change when the earth’s orbit around the sun changes. Hmmm. Go figure.
Which seems to suggest a couple of things—a) climate change is a natural process, and b) we really don’t know why climate zones are moving. Frankly, it’s doubtful that human activity can really influence how the planet rotates or how the sun shines.
So, to get back to the premise of this post—ManBearPig does exist. Except he’s a rent-seeking climate scientist with hysterical claims who needs your money to frighten humanity into going back to the “olden days”.
Remember those days? We travelled by horse or donkey, women spent days doing the laundry, No television. No internet. No social media. We died of curable diseases. We had good harvests followed by bad harvests when a volcano blew up on the other side of the world. We starved, we worshipped silly gods because we were afraid of the dark. And 99% of the world’s population lived in poverty.
No thanks, I’ll let the climate do what it do, and keep my A/C and Dyson vacuum.
