Sexual misconduct lawsuits ain't cheap (unless you think $184,000 is a small amount of money).
This year the state of Louisiana spent over $35,000 on private attorneys to handle a sexual harassment lawsuit involving former Secretary of State Tom Schedler. This brought the total costs of the litigation to $184,000, according to the Division of Administration.
As if that wasn't enough, the state also spent $149,075 to handle the case without going to trial.
Schedler, who held the office since 2010, resigned as Louisiana's top elections officer in May, making him Louisiana's highest ranking political official to face #MeToo accusations.
The result of the settlement saw Schedler personally pay $18,425 to an ex-employee.
