Lawmaker Wants to Fund Border Wall With Porno Tax

If there was ever a way to make building the border wall into an unpopular idea, Rep Gail Griffin (R-Arizona) has figured it out.

The Arizona lawmaker says we need to tax people $20 to look at pornography on the internet.

So does that mean $20 a month, $20 a year or $20 bucks a.... ya know?

According to the proposal, if we pass House Bill 2444 it would require companies who make or sell electronic devices in Arizona to install software that blocks porn.

If the user wants the block removed, they have to pay $20 to the Arizona Commerce Authority.

From there, the funds would go to a bank account called "the John McCain Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Fund"

Wow!  What a great tribute to our late lawmaker - name a pornography bank account after him.  I'm sure Cindy will be thrilled to hear the news.

The Arizona Mirror’s Jerod MacDonald-Evoy claims the bill is linked to Chris Sevier, a former pornography addict who pushed similar legislation in the past.

Sevier is an odd bird.  In 2013 he sued Apple because he claimed a MacBook computer caused his porno  habit.  Then in 2017 he sued the state of Utah for not allowing him to marry a laptop.  He also demanded that a Colorado baker make a wedding cake for his digital bride.

Not surprisingly, the lawsuits were thrown out.

Anyway, a $20 tax to look at pornography is a nutty idea and, chances are, an idea is all it will ever be.  Nobody in their right mind is going to support this stupid bill.
