Rep Omar: America (not Socialism) Destroyed Venezuela

Have you seen any of the horrible footage coming out of Venezuela depicting members of the nation's military firing guns at civilians or driving a military truck into a large crowd of demonstrators?

Venezuelan troops also recently blocked a bridge to stop aid with food and medical supplies from entering the country from Colombia.

Yesterday Rep Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) blamed the US government for the violent situation in Venezuela.

President Nicolás Maduro, the dictator of Venezuela, has been accused of starving his own people, shooting at civilians and ordering military vehicles to drive into large crowds.

During an interview on PBS's Democracy Now, in which the host described the situation in Venezuela as a "US-supported coup attempt", Rep Omar had this to say:

"A lot of the policies that we have put in place has kind of helped lead the devastation in Venezuela and we have sort of set the stage for where we are arriving today. This particular bullying and the use of sanctions to eventually intervene and make regime change really does not help the people of countries like Venezuela and it certainly does not help and is not in the interest of the United States."

Rep Omar doesn't blame socialism for the problems in Venezuela. Military and police forces have been seen on video firing guns at demonstrators, but that's not Maduro's fault, according to Rep Omar.

No, according to Omar, the problem was caused by sanctions against Venezuela by America.

Of course she's wrong - the United States didn't force the dictator of Venezuela to attack his own people and starve them. That happened because of Maduro and only Maduro.

The real irony here is that Rep Omar actively supports boycotts and sanctions against Israel. How do you like them apples?
