Houston Family Set On Fire After Road Rage Shooting Ignites Fireworks

According to authorities a family of four in which includes two children are in the hospital after a major car fire that was sparked by a road rage shooting in north Harris County.

The incident happened in the block of W. Mount Houston on Thursday around 9:30 p.m.

The father got into an argument with the suspect. That suspect pulled out a gun and the father tried to drive off according to authorities from ABC 13.

Th gunman shot the car after argument which in turn set off the fireworks in the car and caused the explosion.

"Family had bought fireworks. It is believed gunfire struck the fireworks causing them to ignite," Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Both of the children, 1-year-old and 2-year-old, endured extensive burns and they are now in critical condition.

People came to the families rescue and helped them to an ER Clinic.

"As far the suspect vehicle, we know it was a male who was in a newer model, light-colored Ford Expedition," said Deputy Tom Turner with HCSO Violent Crimes.

Turner said it the gunman took off in the vehicle with a woman and two other people.
