It's happening. Houston and Harris County are about to join with other large municipal governments around the country.
Here's the details on Harris County's anticipated shelter-in-place order that's expected to be announced today:
- Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is expected to make the announcement this morning.
- The shutdown will take effect at 11:59pm tonight and it will last until April 3rd.
- Groceries/errands/essential industries will still be allowed, so no need to rush out and buy 200 rolls of toilet paper and other miscelanious items you won't be using for a long time.
- The county stayed up all night deciding what is "essential" so more details should be expected soon, but we have no reason to believe Harris County will be different from any other local government around the country who previously shutdown.
