Massachusetts Releases Antisemitic Terror Suspect Over COVID19 Fear

Update: the man accused of attempting to bomb a Jewish nursing facility was ordered back to jail by a federal judge, according to MassLive.com.

--------------

We have reached peak insanity with local officials releasing criminals during the COVID19 crisis.

A Massachusetts man accused of staging a terror attack at a Jewish nursing home has been released over fear of spreading the coronavirus.

Meet John Michael Rathbun, 36, who was charged in a criminal complaint in federal court.

WBUR reports:

According to the criminal complaint, on April 2, 2020, po-po discovered a homemade incendiary device at the entrance of Ruth’s House, a Jewish-sponsored assisted living residential facility for seniors of all faiths.
The device was located within feet of a widely used pedestrian walkway and approximately 50 yards from the Ruth’s House facility.
Ruth’s House is located within one square mile of several other Jewish facilities, including three Jewish temples, a Jewish private school and a Jewish Community Center.
The judge’s decision garnered a written objection from U.S. Attorney Steven Breslow, who wrote that Robertson’s decision to release Rathbun “appears to have been greatly influenced by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”
Breslow added that while the pandemic has created “laudable” concerns, the reasoning is not a sound basis for releasing Rathbun, who presents both a flight risk and a risk to public safety.
