Chicago's political and gang violence are both out of control but the President had better not offer the city leadership a hand because that would be sexist.
Over the weekend 57 people were shot in Chicago (as of early Monday morning).
Considering how out of control the violence in Chicago has become in recent years one would assume the mayor of the city, Democrat Lori Lightfoot, would want all the help she can get... But one would be wrong.
In fact, Mayor Lightfoot says if President Donald Trump send Federal agents to Chicago, that would be an example of sexism.
Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot (D.) suggested at a press conference on Wednesday that President Donald Trump is deploying federal officers to cities because their mayors are Democratic women.
"The president has been on a campaign now for some time against Democratic mayors across the country," Lightfoot said. "Whether it's me, whether it’s Keisha Lance Bottoms in Atlanta, whether it’s Muriel Bowser in Washington, D.C., whether it’s Jenny Durkan in Seattle. You see a common theme here?"
In the meantime the violence in Chicago has skyrocketed in recent weeks, with the Sun Times reporting 53 people were injured in weekend shootings and four killed.
