ROY CLARK DIED

Country Music Hall of Fame Member Roy Clark died yesterday in Tulsa,  Oklahoma.  He was 85.  He was one of the best guitar and banjo players  in country music.  Here are some of his best known songs, "Yesterday  When I Was Young," playing guitar on "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky, and  banjo on the classic "Foggy Mountain Breakdown".  He could also play a  mean fiddle

Hee Haw gave Roy Clark national exposure . . . he co-hosted it with Buck  Owens.  Here's Roy and the show's producer, Sam Lovullo, talking about  the show.  Fun fact: CBS decided to cancel it because the network  thought it was too rural.  They dumped other successful "hillbillie"  shows like "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Green Acres" too.  It's known  as the "rural purge."
