Man faked kidnapping to get $130 from mom, cops say

Meet Emmanuel Franklin, a 19-yr-old from South Carolina who was recently arrested on charges of blackmail.

Dang, blackmail?!  That's pretty serious.  What did they accuse him of doing?

Well,  Franklin purportedly blackmailed his own mom after he fooled her into  believing he would be killed if she didn't pay a ransom of $130,  according to Sumter County police.

Law enforcement officials  claim that on January 22, Franklin convinced his mother he would be  killed by kidnappers unless she put $130 in a local mail box on Bagnal  Drive in Sumter.

But the alleged plan didn't work - he was arrested and now he's sitting in jail.

Shame on anyone who terrorizes their own mother for monetary gain.

I feel bad for his mom.
