An elderly couple in Houston misplaced their spare car key, and started noticing changes in their car . . . like the seat and mirrors were different.
Turns out a guy had been stealing it every night, using it as a getaway vehicle while he broke into other people's cars, and returning it before they woke up.
Beverly Harvard, an elderly Houston woman, didn’t realize her car was missing throughout the night because she was asleep.
But when she started noticing her vehicle's mileage was rapidly increasing, she knew something suspicious was happening.
So Texas police investigated and they determined someone had been driving the vehicle after breaking into other people's cars. Basically, their van was a makeshift getaway car.
Anyway, the jig is up - Michael Armando Lopez was arrested after being caught red-handed with the vehicle.
But the arrest didn't come easy - when cops attempted to stop him he tried to get away and crashed into a pole.
Unfortunately the elderly couple doesn't have a way to get around and, since her husband has a disability and the van was specifically designed for his needs, find a replacement vehicle isn't gonna come easy.
I'm glad the guy got caught but what kind of monster steal's a disabled person's van to break laws and then crashes it?
