Early Sunday morning while a man was being removed from a bar he grabbed a security guard's gun and started shooting, says police.
A woman was killed by the stray gun fire and two others were wounded.
The shooting happened at Willie's Chicken Shack around 3am at the 400 block of Bourbon St.
A 36-year-old female bystander who was fatally shot and pronounced dead at University Medical Center.
An employee of Willie's Chicken Shack told The Advocate the victim was walking down Bourbon St when the bullet struck her after the suspect and a security guard were struggling over the gun.
Police identified the suspect as 37-yr-old Louis Barnes.
Barnes, who was also struck by a bullet, will be booked with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, police said.
An employee of Willies said they kicked Barnes out of the business for selling drugs.
The security guard was also struck in the neck. He's currently recovering and is in stable condition.
