How bad is it in New Orleans in 2019?
It's so bad that the father of a city councilwoman was carjacked in broad daylight and it was all caught on camera.
“A man, after a prayer session, was leaving for the day, and as he was walking to his car, a group of guys came and approached him,” a New Orleans East woman said.
Sunday at 2 p.m. in the 13900 block of Dwyer Boulevard, surveillance video shows two gunmen approached the driver’s side of the victim’s SUV.
“They were just walking down the street, so their goal probably was to find a victim,” the woman said.
Police said one of the gunmen opened the door, grabbed the 66-year-old victim by the collar and threw him to the ground before taking off in his SUV.
“I saw him put a gun to the man’s head and they told him to get out. One of them jumped in the car and drove off this way,” a witness said.
Hours later, Councilwoman Cyndi Nguyen took to Facebook Live to say that the carjacking victim was her father.
“My father was held up at gunpoint while he was leaving his friend’s home off of Dwyer. Thank God he survived with no injuries. He’s just a bit sore because they grabbed him by his neck,” Councilwoman Cyndi Nguyen said.
These little teenage thugs think they run the city.
