On Sunday a man from Livingston Parish was arrested for allegedly stealing an electric shopping cart from a Walmart.
According to the report, he believed riding the electric shopping cart would prevent him from getting a DWI.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call from a bar in Houma located along Corporate Drive a little after midnight.
The police said someone showed up in the parking lot on the stolen cart. When they arrived on the scene officers found the shopping cart parked between two other vehicles outside the bar.
Inside the bar officers confronted Brice Williams, 32, of Denham Springs
Williams told police he stole the cart from a nearby Walmart while he was traveling from another bar. He admitted he committed the crime out of fear that he would be arrested for a DWI if he drove his own car.
Williams was arrested on one count of unauthorized use of a movable vehicle and his bond was set at $2,500.
We've heard some creative excuses from criminals over the years, but this guy has just taken us to a new level of ridiculousness.
