Biden on Day One: New Executive Order Will Destroy Thousands of Jobs

Many of us suspected the incoming presidential administration would have a radical left agenda and he's proving us right.

The Biden administration has decided to shut down construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which will end thousands of American construction jobs, according to a report by Audrey Conklin. President Biden has revoked a key cross-border presidential permit needed to finish the years-long project.

According to the Keystone XL website, the project, initially proposed more than a decade ago, would sustain about 11,000 U.S. jobs in 2021 – including 8,000 union jobs – and generate $1.6 billion in gross wages.

The reasoning for eliminating the project stems from climate change theory, but the alternative to moving crude oil using the Keystone XL pipeline is another pipeline from Alberta to Illinois and Texas. Whether we keep the Keystone XL project or eliminate it, either way the oil still gets moved via pipeline. In other words, stopping the Keystone XL pipeline will have little to no impact on our climate, according to the scientific theory. Lots of oil is also used moving our railroad system, which most experts believe has a larger carbon footprint. Warren Buffett, a large donor to Democrat campaigns like Joe Biden's, currently owns the BNSF railroad company, which probably isn't a coincidence.

Eliminating the Keystone XL pipeline will do more than just hurt American jobs. It also helps our rivals around the world.

Most of the capacity of the refineries in Texas and Louisiana, which could handle and refine heavy crude from Alberta coming through the Keystone XL pipeline, is currently taken up by Venezuelan oil, which has similar characteristics. Should the U.S. shift those refineries to processing Canadian oil, Venezuela’s ailing economy would be dealt another blow, which might well bring about regime change in Venezuela—one that would likely turn away from “spreading the wealth” statist socialism and more toward the market and private sector solutions.

The pandemic has been hard on America's economy and job market. On Joe Biden's first day he decided to make things even harder.
