Drug dealers accidentally bust themselves: police

Nobody ever claimed criminals were smart and this news story proves why.

Here's a group of morons who actually busted themselves.

While we don't personally believe it should be illegal to consume marijuana, we also don't think you should illegally traffic drugs.

GALLATIN, TN – Four alleged drug dealers had been attempting to get a cell phone connected to a Bluetooth speaker when it called 911 on them.
The cell phone glitch led to all four people being arrested and a large amount of marijuana being seized.
On July 22nd around 10 p.m., the Gallatin Police Department received a 911 call from a cell phone when people were trying to sync it to a speaker.
When the 911 operator answered the phone, the alleged drug dealers reported that they were no emergency and there was no need for police or fire.
The alleged drug dealers were concerned that police were going to respond to their residence anyway – which is what happened in this case. Gallatin Police Department requires a police response to all 911 calls in an abundance of caution to ensure that no one is in danger.
While the 911 call forced officers to respond to the location, what the alleged drug dealers did not know is they had already been on surveillance for several weeks.
Members of the Gallatin Police Department had been investigating the group for drug trafficking. According to Gallatin Police Lieutenant Lamar Ballard:
“Investigators were running surveillance on the apartment complex when we get a 911 hang-up from inside the apartment. Sometimes luck is in our favor.”
As police responded to the location, the officers surveilling the apartment complex reportedly observed one of the suspects, Lazavious King, take two duffle bags out of the residence and conceal them in a garbage can.
Police would later find drugs and at least one firearm inside the duffle bag. Lieutenant Ballard reported:
“So after the 911 call, they got nervous, and thought we were going to respond.”
Responding officers did not immediately go to the residence as they were most likely told to maintain distance from the officers surveilling it.
After enough time had passed and the alleged group of dealers began to think officers were not responding, other residents, walked outside and retrieved the duffle bags.
After the bag had been secured back inside of the residence, officers made contact and reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from within the residence.
Based on the smell, officers secured the residence while other officers worked on obtaining a search warrant.
After the search warrant was secured and executed, Gallatin Police reported they located several different illegal items inside, including five pounds of marijuana, ammunition, loaded magazines for different firearms, a 50-round drum magazine, a .9mm firearm, AK-47, and over $18,000 in cash.
Lieutenant Ballard reported:
“Anytime you can take that much drugs off the streets and then anytime you can take weapons off the street out of the hands of felons, and in this case, high-powered weapons, yes, it is definitely making our community safer. In this case, they [alleged drug dealers] helped us out and we appreciate it.”
The Gallatin Police Department spoke to News 2 that they have made contact with the ATF who are working to trace the firearms to determine where they originated.
According to police, they took several people into custody for various drug-related charges.
King was charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, maintaining a dwelling for drug use, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
Brandon Banks was arrested along with King and charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling for drug use, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
Along with King and Banks, Asiah Sadler was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a dwelling for drug use.
Jarques Wordlaw, Jr, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
