The New York Yankees beat the Oakland A's for the American League Wild Card on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium . . . and during the game, some not-so-nice Yankee fans doused an A's fan in BEER.
It happened in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Yankees went up 6-0 with a four-run rally. A super-classy Yankee fan dumped his beer on the guy, and then threw the plastic cup at his head. Video of the "attack" went viral.
The A's looked for the Oakland fan on social media, and figured out that he's a 25-year-old software engineer, who's from Oakland, but is living in New York. The team is sending him a care package, including tickets to a game next season.
This seems to reinforce the stereotype about New York fans, but the A's fan says he's heard from some "awesome" Yankee fans too. He adds, quote, "Whatever. You can pour beer on me. I still love Oakland, and I'm not going to retaliate because that's not what this was about."
