JFK defends Amy Coney Barrett at the Rice Hotel in 1960

In the wake of Justice Anthony Kennedy stepping down from the Supreme Court, Judge Amy Coney Barrett, a front runner for his replacement, has come under fire for her Catholic faith.

Unfortunately America has a long history of discriminating against Catholics:

  • Working class protestants discriminated against and frequently attacked Catholics during the mid 19th century.
  • That hatred eventually led to the KKK harassing and terrorizing Catholics during the turn of the century.
  • Eventually hatred towards Catholics was used as a vehicle to try and convince middle America not to vote for John F Kennedy Jr.

Speaking of John f Kennedy, here he is in 1960, at the Rice Hotel in Houston, Texas, explaining to a group of voters why his religious faith shouldn't prevent him from being America's leader.

While you watch this video, think of Judge Barrett and the hatred people have recently displayed towards her religious background.  Imagine JFK, a man who modern day Democrats revere and adore, is speaking about Judge Barrett.
