Police say an officer in Shreveport, Louisiana has died after being shot Wednesday (Jan. 9) evening.
It happened around 8:30 p.m.
At least 50 police units responded to the shooting.
Shreveport Police Corporal Marcus Hines said other officers responded to a call of shots fired and discovered the injured officer at the scene.
The officer was taken to Oschner LSU Health Hospital.
Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins also Chief Raymond at the hospital.
The officer was a female who is new to the force. Her name has not yet been released.
