Ex-Astros Player Arrested For Trying to Pickup Underage Girls Online

A former Houston Astros draftee was one of nine men arrested over the past month for allegedly attempting to meet underage girls online for sex.

Michael Schurz, a former minor league baseball player with the Houston Astros, was arrested in as part of an online chatroom sting to catch suspected pedophiles.

Schurz was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor. He was caught with eight other "men" thanks to an investigation by the Harris County Precinct One Constable Deputies and the joint Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force

Schurz worked with children as a baseball instructor, according to authorities.

Schurz was drafted by the Astros in 2009 MLB and played two seasons in their farm system.

The punishment for a felony conviction of online solicitation of a minor can range from probation or 2-20 years in prison.
