Meet Tavores Henderson - aka "Killah Dre" - the wanna-be thug rapper who was recently accused of killing 43-year-old Sgt. Kaila Sullivan of Nassau Bay. On Tuesday night, Killah Dre was detained during a traffic stop for an outstanding warrant when he decided to get back in his vehicle and fatally hit Sgt. Sullivan, according to law enforcement.
"Killah Dre" (can we just call him "Killah" for short? His words - not ours) has a long violent history of brushes with the law that includes multiple domestic violence and weapons charges, along with a previous charge for evading arrest.
Now Killah Dre can add "killed a cop" to the list of crimes he's been accused of committing.
Yesterday, amazingly, the 21-year-old suspect was granted $150,000 bond by a judge.
That means "Killah Dre" there's a judge somewhere in Harris County who thinks "Killah Dre" isn't a danger to public safety.
Not surprisingly, this news has upset some folks.
Houston police union leader Joe Gamaldi lashed out on Twitter saying, "Receiving word dirtbag arrested for murdering Sgt Sullivan from Nassau Bay, was just given a $150k bond. This is completely abhorrent for a career criminal, documented gang member who is alleged to have a killed a police officer. Sgt Sullivan deserves better!"
He's got a point. "Killah Dre" already had an open warrant. We know he's capable of evading arrest and avoiding a court date because that's essentially what he was already being accused of when he was pulled over by Sgt. Sullivan.
