Even federal investigators agree its hard to ignore the incredibly suspicious circumstances surrounding the police helicopter crash that took place in Houston over the weekend.
After two police officers, tactical Flight Officer Jason Knox, 35, and pilot, Senior Officer Chase Cormier, 35, were called to search for bodies that were reportedly floating in the water of a Houston bayou, gun shots could be heard before and after their helicopter came crashing into the leasing office of an apartment building.
Now federal investigators are treating this case as a possible homicide and conducting a proper investigation.
As firefighters and officers worked to free the men from the wreckage, shots rang out across the street from the crash. Six people were taken into custody in what was believed to be an unrelated incident, Acevedo said.
Despite the questions and the possible coincidences, shooting at aircraft isn't unheard of.
"It is not commonly known that law enforcement aviation comes under fire on a regular basis across our country," Acevedo said.
It could be weeks or months before a possible cause of the crash is determined.
