The mask mandate may be ending here in Texas later this week, but don't assume that means you can head to the grocery store without a mask. According to Fox 26, H-E-B is one of many Texas businesses planning to keep their in-store requirements in place.
Despite some earlier mixed messaging, H-E-B will continue to require shoppers to wear masks in their stores. The company made this clear in a statement released Friday, explaining that while the statewide mandate is changing this week, H-E-B's store protocols are not:
"Mask use at our stores will remain. Our signs requiring mask use will remain posted at entrances and we will continue to make announcements in store.
We will continue to expect shoppers to wear masks while in our stores. Additionally, we will still require all our Partners and vendors to wear masks while at work.
H-E-B has always been a strong proponent and advocate of mask use even before mandates and orders were passed."
In addition to requiring customers to wear face coverings, the grocery store chain will continue to enforce social distancing, mask-wearing and proper hand washing for employees, plexiglass partitions at check-out and service counters, and increased sanitization in stores.
Earlier announcements indicate that Kroger, Aldi, and Sprouts grocery store locations will also continue to require shoppers to wear masks.
