This is a special kind of stupid.
In a world where toy stores are struggling to stay open (remember Toys-R-Us?) the state of California is trying to create new laws to regulate how toys in brick-and-mortar retail locations are marketed.
Lawmakers in California believe every toy store should have a section for "gender neutral" children.
This is pretty creepy.
Assembly Bill 2826 (AB-2826) will require retailers to have gender-neutral floor spaces inside their stores by doing away with such outdated concepts like “boys aisles” and “girls aisles” by offering children products in a “single, gender-neutral section.”
Proposed by Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low, the bill would apply to all retail department stores with more than 500 employees. Should it become law, retailers who don’t comply could be “liable for a civil penalty of $1,000.”
We're not really sure why this is a problem the state of California feels they need to solve, but we're mighty grateful we don't live on the West Coast. These people are nuts.
