When we look back at 2021, it was not a good year for the Biden administration. It's hard to quantify just how much damage has been done to our nation, in such a short time.
Right at the top of the list has to be the crisis at the border, a crisis created by Biden on day one.
Former ICE special agent Victor Avila says it was the worst year at the border in U.S. history. "Hands down in my experience, and my 20 years of law enforcement experience, it was definitely the worst year regarding border security for sure, and what we've seen in our country with this crime surge."
The Biden administration has tried to hide most of the numbers, but it has been reported that nearly 2 million illegals crossed into the U.S. in 2021. But Avila says that number is at least, closer to 4 million, if not more, "there are numbers with the got-away's that could hit up to 10 million! as I've talked to some of my border agents" he said.
So with all of that said, is there any chance that 2022 will be any better at the border?
"I don't see it getting any better, anytime soon" Avila told KTRH, "I know the state of Texas has tried to step up and help, which is a great thing, we've seized a lot of drugs, we've detained a lot of people, but no one has actually been stopped from entering this country illegally. Not the state of Texas, not the federal government, no one has done it."
Which is why Victor Avila is rejoining the fight, joining the crowded list, in the running for Texas Land Commissioner. And what about the Texas border wall?
"What I would do as Texas Land Commissioner" Avila says, "Is build it in the most vulnerable entry points that we see the traffic coming in. We need to put these barriers where it's actually going to make a difference, not just for political reasons."
Hopefully, we will see a difference at the border in 2022.
