University of Houston Back to School Backpack Giveaway Today

The UH Health Family Care Center, in partnership with Boynton Chapel Methodist Church, is proud to host its first back-to-school block party on Saturday, August 12, to support the Third Ward community and its health care needs.

Along with great food, music and fun, kids will receive backpacks, school supplies and quality care from the Family Care Center’s dedicated physicians, staff and students from the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine who will be providing vaccines, sports physicals and other services.

“Empowering our community’s future starts with ensuring every child has what they need to be successful,” said Paule Anne Lewis who is serving as executive director of the Family Care Center. “We are creating a foundation of support for their minds and bodies so they can thrive in school and beyond.”

What: UH Health Family Care Center Back to School Block Party 

When: Saturday, Aug. 12, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. 

Where: UH Health Family Care Center, 4349 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

Anyone planning to receive a vaccine or physical should have their health insurance card with them or bring the forms listed on the Sliding Fee Discount Program page along with their child’s birth certificate.
