Deputy Acquitted for Wife's Murder

This week a Harris County jury hands down a verdict finding a former Harris County deputy is not guilty of murdering his wife in 2019.

Renard Spivey was charged with murder in the shooting death of Patricia Spivey at their home in southwest Houston. He called 9-1-1 and said he and his wife had been in an argument and were struggling over the gun when it went off.

Patricia Spivey was pronounced dead at Ben Taub Hospital.

The Harris County D-A's Office says the jury could have found Renard Spivey guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter, but decided to acquit him.
