Harris County Brings Down a Nuisance House

Neighbors of an abandoned apartment building in northeast Harris County are relieved that it's been torn down.

The building on Beaumont Place had reportedly attracted crime, illegal dumping, and drug trafficking to the area for years.

Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia says federal funds from the American Relief Program made the demolition possible.

County officials say they've torn down about 300 properties since June of last year. A $3,000,000 nuisance abatement program is aiming to tear down a total of 1,000.
