A dramatic collision occurred off the coast of the Bahamas when a $12 million superyacht, the Aurora, crashed into the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Allure of the Seas on Thursday (December 12). The incident was captured on video by horrified passengers, showing the yacht veering diagonally towards the massive cruise liner while docked in Nassau Harbour.
Witnesses, including Dayanni Bhagwandin, described the yacht swinging right and scraping along the hull of the 1,187-foot cruise ship, causing a loud crash and creaking sounds. The Aurora's mast struck one of the cruise ship's lifeboats, damaging its radar dome and leaving debris on the yacht. Despite the collision, the Allure of the Seas sustained minimal damage and departed with only a 40-minute delay.
The Aurora, part of the Nordhavn 120 series, suffered significant damage, losing its antenna mast and radar. It remains docked in Nassau for repairs. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Experts speculate that a mechanical failure on the yacht may have caused the collision, according to Daily Mail.
