Storms Cause Some Street Flooding, High Water on Roads

The Houston area faced a storm threat Saturday that saw some strong winds, power outages and road closures through the afternoon and evening.

It's a slow moving weather system that moved southward through Southeast Texas as the evening faded into night, with rain accumulating at the I-10 East Freeway underpass at McCarty Street, which was shut down by officials because cars were stalling out in the water.

By 7 pm Saturday, CenterPoint reported about 3,000 customers without power, but crews restoring electricity had that number down to about 1,800 by 9 pm Saturday.

The rain led to high water and a brief closure of I-10 at McCarty Street.
